Major Activities
Mitsubishi USA Foods & Retail operates three business areas: food resources, food manufacturing and food distribution. Our global network covers the foods value chain from up-stream to down-stream. These integrated areas create synergies with affiliated companies and outside strategic partners, like world class suppliers, processors, distributors, food service operators and retailers.
Mitsubishi USA's goal is to establish a stronger foods value chain from the Americas to Asia, especially China. To achieve this end, Mitsubishi USA Foods and Retail specializes in two areas:
- Investment in companies owning farms and systems to procure raw food materials and products, such as grain (wheat, corn, soy), sugar, fish, dairy products, etc. from North and South American countries. Examples of such investments include: Multigrain (export of grain, soybean and cotton, farming, etc.); United Grain Corporation (exporting wheat, corn, and soybeans); and Mitsubishi Alimentos (coffee).
- Creating efficient channels to invest in distribution companies and manufacturers, examples include: Mitsubishi Bussan Logistic Inc. (demand chain service to 7Eleven in the U.S.), Ventura Foods (manufacturing of margarine, shortening, dressings, etc.), and Mitsubishi Foods (import, export and distribution of canned food, juice ingredients, coffee, dairy products and frozen foods).
Mitsubishi USA continues to explore opportunities in these areas through our extensive international network, and considerable knowledge and experience. In addition, Mitsubishi USA's expertise in the food safety area can help address customers' and consumers' needs through various solutions.
